DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: The position is responsible for providing the NBC’s Interceptor Maintenance Department with engineering support including tasks associated with flow monitoring, hydraulic evaluations, connection permits, engineering plan reviews, specifications, data analyses, report preparations and other engineering support services. Review and quantify flow data and capacities on existing NBC collection system assets to support the proper oversight, maintenance, and replacement program for the NBC collection system. Review engineering plans and applications for sewer connection permit applications to evaluate flow and construction impacts to the NBC system. Prepare reports associated with NBC collection system assets to provide the Department with engineering details essential for the proper maintenance and replacement program. Review plans and specifications for various collection system project needs. Prepare specifications for collection system needs as needed. Assist in the preparation of material, development of documents and review of submittals for the solicitation of services to support the NBC sewerage collection system. Perform oversight into the NBC’s web-based notification system to ensure the integrity of the data on the website. Provide assistance to other NBC Departments, as needed. Manage vendors and/or other staff to provide engineering support services as needed. Perform other duties as assigned, within skill, experience and capabilities. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEMust have graduated from an accredited four-year technical college degree program in civil/environmental engineering or equivalent. Applicants with two to five years of experience in construction, environmental and/or civil engineering are preferred. JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Requires a thorough knowledge of engineering principles, techniques and procedures as applied to sanitary engineering, hydraulics and construction management. Familiarity with engineering software programs such as AutoCAD and GIS. Proficient with Office software products. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interactions with coworkers, supervisors, the public and others to sufficiently convey information. Excellent written skills and attention to detail to prepare accurate and concise reports. Must be able to read design plans and specifications for constructability and completeness.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid driver’s license to operate NBC vehicles.
