DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The FP Utility Operator is responsible for performing various cleaning and maintenance of various facilities and equipment. In addition, the role will include taking recordings and operating various equipment to facilitate the proper operations of the wastewater treatment facility. Cleans plant equipment and facilities to maintain a safe work environment. Seasonal groundskeeping include lawnmowing, street sweeping, weed control, hedge trimming, painting, snow/ice control, and general upkeep of the WWTF property. Includes general cleaning and maintenance of various plant equipment used throughout the WWTF including lawnmowers, hedgers, truck washing. Report significant maintenance and/or repair needs as needed. Takes and records readings of plant equipment including temperature, pressure, and vacuum. Operates a variety of pumps, valves, gates, and switches to operate the plant equipment. Responds to various alarms or operational problems within NBC property and takes corrective action based on defined procedures or supervisor direction. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or G.E.D. as required and authorized by Chapter 42-17 of the RI General Laws (RIGL) of 1956, as amended, Rhode Island Code of Regulations 250-RICR-150-10-5.6 C, and other applicable law. Must be able to follow instructions, communicate effectively and professionally to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Within one year of employment, you must possess an Operator-in-Training (OIT) Grade I certification license for wastewater treatment plants. A valid driver’s license in good standing is required at time of hire.
